We are the Maastricht Climate Coalition, a network of student and local organizations united in the struggle for climate justice. We exist because our governments do not see climate change as the priority it is. But we do. And many citizens do to. We understand that the time for ambitious systemic changes is now. And after years of demonstrations – we understand that it is us, the citizens, who must take the lead in the sustainable and social transition we so desperately need.
So, we got started! The Maastricht Climate Coalition formulated eight specific demands to make our city more sustainable and socially just. Today, we want to discuss these demands with anyone interested in being part of the solution! Maastricht is our city, yours and mine. What you think, what you want and what you are concerned about matters!
Every 2 weeks, with experts, activists and citizens, we will come together online and discuss one of the 8 demands. Together, we will share our experiences, worries and ideas and imagine concrete solutions to local problems. What we will come up with together will be sent to our elected politicians. The climate crisis needs to be addressed through collaborations and deliberations – let’s put this into practice and inspire our government to do the same.
See you on the 9th of February and every two weeks after that!
Let’s do this!
